Sustainability
& Social Responsibility
At Deep Sea Atlantic NA, we are committed to responsible sourcing, environmental stewardship, and supporting the communities who bring our seafood to life.
Our mission: protect the ocean and uplift the people who depend on it — now and for generations to come.
FIP-Sourced Seafood
We proudly offer a growing portfolio of seafood products sourced from Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) — globally recognized efforts to improve fishery management, reduce environmental impact, and promote long-term sustainability.
Our FIP-Sourced Products Include:
- American Red Snapper (Lutjanus campechanus)
- Southern Caribbean Red Snapper (Lutjanus purpureus)
- Caribbean Spiny Lobster (Panulirus argus)
- Kingfish (Scomberomorus cavalla)
- Grouper spp.
- Silver Corvina (Cynoscion virescens)
- Weakfish (Golden Corvina) (Cynoscion acoupa)
- Vermilion (Beeliner) Snapper (Rhomboplites aurorubens)
Sourcing FIP seafood supports better fishery practices and helps preserve our ocean resources so that future generations can continue to enjoy high-quality, wild-caught seafood.
Empowering Communities
In Yucatán, Mexico, we work closely with indigenous-owned and cooperatively operated fishing groups. Our partnership includes:
- Funding access to health insurance for local workers and their families
- Improving infrastructure and quality of life within fishing villages
- Protecting traditional livelihoods through ethical and equitable sourcing
These efforts help foster stronger, healthier coastal communities built on respect and long-term collaboration.
Caring for the Hands That Feed Us
Fishing is physically demanding and often dangerous. To support those who spend long days at sea, we are:
- Establishing an on-site infirmary for fishermen visiting our facilities in Suriname
- Providing access to a dedicated doctor for urgent and routine medical care
- Offering health screenings and wellness support — free of charge
We believe that sustainability includes social care — and that starts with protecting the health of those at the heart of our supply chain.
Expanding Our FIP Footprint
We’re actively working to expand our commitment to sustainability by:
- Identifying new fisheries and suppliers to bring under FIP guidance
- Collaborating with NGOs, marine biologists, and industry partners to improve traceability
- Educating our customers and vendors about the value of sustainability
While not all products we offer are currently under FIP or certification, we are focused on increasing that percentage year over year — with measurable goals and full transparency.
Why It Matters — and Why It Should Matter to You
When you choose Deep Sea Atlantic NA, you’re choosing a company that puts people and the planet first — not just profits. Our impact extends from the ocean floor to the dinner plate by:
